The Lack of Support for Internet Christian Radio

It is no secret that Internet radio is becoming the way to go for listeners and advertisers alike; so why are so many of us still hesitant to lend our support to this very popular form of media within the Christian community? One has to have blinders on not to notice the reach that Internet radio has over Terrestrial radio stations.

Be sure to join me on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11AM, ET for the Roundtable on En Sound Radio and Caribbean Gospel Surf, all independent artists or those aspiring to be need to hear this show

I am in total agreement with you Delroy... For some reason the Gospel Artists feel that the only way to get recogniaed it to get airplay on terrestrial stations. Its as if they enjoy the rejection and limited spins. The other thing is I also believe that they enjoy selling there CDs from the trunk if their cars. Being an Internet sation owner and the Editor of an online gospel publication I understand your fustrations. Eventually the artists will understand our position and God given assignment and they will see how we can be a blessing to their ministry...

All we have to do is what God has assigned us to do... I will say this none of us can stand alone we are going to have to come together and do what we have to do to get recognized... I am not intimidaed by Sattlite, HD, or XFM. I know that they will opperate in the same vain and the independents will have the same issuews and concerns... I would say that for many their prayers have been answered... And as a station owner we understand that paid advertisers is the key to our success... We just have to keep on pushin until we reach the mark...

Well said my brother, i only wish that more people will get involved in these discussions especially if they're artists aspiring for that bigger stage. This in my opinion has been the worst year in music...nothing is happening and this should be the time that the independents flex their muscles and show that they are here, but on the other hand, the economy doesn't allow many of us to do so. I am curious to see how and what the BIG record labels will come up with to save themselves from all that is happening; guess i'll just wait and see huh?

Blessings. I come at internet radio from a different approach. My talent is very limited because I'm my own artist/musician/producer....etc. . I appreciate everyone who is trying to make the bigger stage, but that isn't my goal. To me, internet radio is my way of sharing the gospel through music. I know that if God wants any of my music to be in the "big picture", he'll make it happen. But, I don't look for that and I'm satisified just making music and getting play on the internet. I pray and will continue to pray for all the artists who want to make a living doing music while sharing the gospel. But, as for me, I will be content just doing what I'm doing. I believe that sites like this are great opportunities for the lost. Thanks Delroy. Make God continue to bless and grow this site.

I agree with you too Richard, sometimes we tend to loose focus and want to look outside to get the recognition of radio and television etc, but if God doesn't want us to have those things, then we'll be trying until thy kingdom come, so being contented with where we are is a good thing if we allow God to speak to us.

This is how I become a memeber because I live in a small country call the Bahamas with 3 gospel stations and about 10 secu. stations. One day I heard a minister said that what ever I need to complete my asignment is in my hands, something I do every day. Well I am a chef so I said to myself can't be this and I had just release my third single and having differculty get airplay. One day I went to check my email and the Lord said to me this it this is it. So when search (caribbean gospel radio station) it was like a kid just got permittion have what ever in the candy store. Then I search (gospel radio station) then it was like I owned the candy factory So I send out some cds and got great responds but that did not sames to be all the Spirit of God was showing me, then I sign up on Dubwise, Myspace, Linkedin, Facebook, Youtube, Muzikjoint now I am trying to get some Video to put on mysites. Many other artist here been out years with many albums but has no presents out side the Bahamas. Now I always tell people that the is not big any more you have access anytime any where, it's in your hands.
Peace

hey Patrick,

if you know these artists please send them our way, we'll play their music. Corporate-owned radio stations will not play indie artists so I like many of you thank GOD for Internet radio. Once the production is good we'll play it....never give up bro.

I myself is writer, producer and financer of my songs but can not play music instrument. Have anyone ever thought that maybe some out there just don't know of internet radio I just learn about internet radio a few months ago after the fustration from local radio in the Bahamas. I also found out that with about $2,000.00 of promo I can do the same job that the big labels will do for me. So I am trying to finish my album to get the ball rolling.

Those complation albums that some companies produce is good and that is what I am using to spreading my message at this time. They have access to so much more contact then any new artist could have and will cheaper than doing it yourself. I firmly believe that God is trying to get us to move from the four walls and go into all the world. I watch the world system and notice that everwhere you go you see or hear about their products and more then half of the time the products is not good but there is still a demand for it. Lets take music most of the songs out there has no subtance poor lyric and maybe a good beat but if you see and hear them long enough even if you don't like the song you will find your self singing it. So I say we should use avenue that is out there to spend the good news of Christ.
Patrick.
